My Wellness Travel Essentials

Originally published: February 25, 2022

Due to the state in which our world has undergone in the past two years, I haven’t done much traveling. In a lot of ways, I’m extremely grateful to have spent this time in one place establishing some roots- something I was deeply craving for almost a decade. However, with vaccinations and boosters rolling out, I’m feeling a tiny bit more comfortable traveling again. I recently took a trip down to Los Angeles / San Diego for work and family matters, and something I get asked a lot by my friends and online community is about my wellness travel essentials.

As I’m sure you know or can tell, I take my health very seriously. As someone who has struggled with my health from a young age, it’s been one of my top priorities as I’ve gotten older and learned more about my body and what works for me. This list doesn’t include my regular supplements I take, as I do not like to share those. What works for me may not work for you, and I don’t want you to feel like you need to consume everything that I take. I'm a huge advocate for getting your micronutrients tested by a doctor to see what you're deficient in instead of guessing. However, I love sharing what tools and products have helped me along this five-year journey, but you should always consult with your medical care team before taking any new supplement. With that, let’s get into what I bring to help maintain my most vital and grounded self.

Alexandria’s Wellness Travel Essentials

01. Branch Basics Travel Kit- As most of you know, when it comes to cleaning, Branch Basics has my heart. They are a one-stop shop when it comes to all of your non-toxic cleaning needs. How it essentially works is that they supply you with one bottle of concentrate, and you use that for everything in different ratios. It’s a very simple way to cut back on cost and waste when it comes to cleaning. I use their solutions for my clothes, dishes, bathroom, and washing my produce. Use my code ALEXANDRIA for 20% off any Starter Kit.

02. 88 Acres Protein + Snack Bars- 88 Acres was kind enough to send me their protein and snack bars so I tried them out on this trip. They made for the perfect inflight/quick snack on the go.

03. Dry Brush- I absolutely love dry brushing and the effects it has on your lymphatic system. It’s something I’ve been doing consistently for the past few months before I shower each night. I find that it really helps my skin and my lymphatic system continuously move. To learn more about dry brushing, see this article I wrote for Total Foods Japan here.

04. Sakara Life Detox Tea- As you know, Sakara Life is a partner of mine and I absolutely love their products and their approach to wellness. This decaffeinated tea is perfect for before bed and I always find it to be so soothing. Use my code XOALEXANDRIAY to get 20% off of your order.

05. Sakara Life Energy Bars- These bars are also great to have on the go. They contain b-12, l-theanine, and cacao which is naturally energizing. Use my code XOALEXANDRIAY to get 20% off of your order.

06. Organifi Green Juice- Organifi recently sent me their Green Juice powder to try, and it came at the perfect time. Though I pride myself on consuming an abundance of plants, I really wanted to find something that I could supplement while traveling. I have been drinking this “juice” for the past few weeks and love it. Everything they make is of the highest quality, is third-party lab tested, and the Co-founder's parents helped create the USDA Organic label.

07. California Gold Hydration Powder- This hydration powder is a go-to of mine. It doesn’t contain any added sugars unlike so many other hydration powders. It’s perfect for traveling and when you need a boost.

08. Beekeeper’s Naturals B. Immune Throat Spray- I have been using this product for a couple of months now and truly love it. It’s great for keeping your immunity up and contains 100 percent propolis, which is naturally immune enhancing. I tend to get a scratchy throat from flying, and this product helped a lot.

09. Reusable Grocery Bag- I never travel without a reusable grocery bag. They always come in handy and I love being able to mitigate the waste I create, especially while traveling.

10. Ice Pack- Last May, I had a back injury that left me incredibly debilitated. With a lot of physical therapy, massage, daily stretching, and chiropractic care I’ve been able to manage it. However, I now travel with an ice pack just in case flare-ups occur. Which on this particular trip it did, and let me tell you, I am so glad I brought this.

11. Stasher Bag- Along with wanting to mitigate my waste, Stasher bags are always handy. You can put food items, toiletries, makeup, etc in these bags. They are also microwave and dishwasher safe.

12. COVID-19 Rapid Tests -With COVID-19 still being very much a thing, traveling with rapid tests is a must.

13. N95 Masks- I used these on the airplane and they were so great at making me feel safer and were surprisingly comfortable and very breathable.

 14. Beekeeper’s Naturals B. Powdered Superfood Honey- Along with propolis they superfood honey contains royal jelly and bee pollen. I love eating a spoonful of this whenever I’m feeling a bit under the weather. You should always eat it raw and unheated so it can contain its benefits.

15. Beekeeper’s Naturals B. Soothed Honey Lozenges - Cough drops without added sugar are impossible to find. However, these contain propolis, vitamin D, zinc to help maintain immunity. Plus they taste incredible.

16. Source Naturals Wellness Formula- These tablets have been in my wellness toolkit for about a decade. Though they taste so bad, they work so well. Ben somehow thinks they taste good, but I don’t get it. I always travel with these and take them when I first feel under the weather. They’ve helped me when I’ve been sick, congested, etc. I highly recommend it.

17. Highline Wellness CBD Oil- Highline Wellness recently sent me a few of their products to try out. I am currently in the process of testing this oil and their gummies out, but overall, I really like it. I’m looking forward to seeing how I feel after a month of consistently using it.

18. Highline Wellness CBD Melatonin Gummies- As mentioned above, these were gifted to me. At the time, I didn’t know they contained corn syrup. But because they were gifted and I already opened them I decided to try them out. While I do not advocate for corn syrup in food products, these do work. I just wish they would change their formulation to a different sugar or sugar substitute.

19. Seed DS-01 Daily Synbiotic- Seed is another partner of mine and I have been religiously using their product for the past two years, long before we started working together. They are a synbiotic, meaning a prebiotic and probiotic in one. Your gut microbiome needs both to thrive so ensuring you’re taking something to support that is incredibly paramount. To learn more about synbiotics, take a look at this article I wrote for Total Foods Japan here. Also, you can use my code ALEXANDRIA15  for 15% off your first subscription.

20. De La Heart Lymphatic Drainage Paddle- After dry brushing, I love using this paddle after I’ve showered. It also helps stimulate your lymphatic system, which doesn’t have a pump, unlike your heart. So that’s why it’s so important to stimulate it manually. Because I walk and do pilates frequently, I’ve found this helps with sore muscles and keeping things toned and tight. However, I will say it’s a tool, not a magic pill so, for it to work, you actually need to use it consistently.

21. Boiron Cold Calm- Another homeopathic medicine I’ve been using for over a decade is this. Anything from Boiron is always great to have on hand, especially while traveling during a pandemic.

22. Beekeeper’s Naturals B. Smart Brain Fuel- These brain fuel shots contain royal jelly, ginkgo biloba, and bacopa monnieri. They are so incredibly helpful for focussing and getting over jetlag. I like taking these when I take exams for school or if I really need to focus. There’s absolutely no caffeine but they are so energizing.

23. Sakara Life Detox + Water Drops- I have been using this product for awhile now and love it. I add it to my water, smoothies, matcha, etc. To learn more about this product, please see here. For a 20% off discount, use my code XOALEXANDRIAY.

Aside from what’s pictured above, I also always travel with a reusable water bottle- I love this one here. Recently I started carrying around an insulated lunch bag and am obsessed. It keeps my food and drinks cool while remaining separate from my purse. And lastly, a very recent thing I’ve gotten into has been growing my own organic sprouts at home. It’s insanely easy, and anyone can do it. I took a container of them on my trip and was so glad I did. All of which is pictured below. I hope this gives you more insight as to how I travel and what I like to take with me to maintain my health. As always, if you have any questions please leave them below as I love to connect with you. It truly does make my day. xx
