What I Learned In 2019
What I learned in 2019
Originally published: January 18, 2020
Over the past seventeen days, I’ve been heavily reflecting on the end of the decade, what it has meant to me and more importantly, what it has taught me. It’s nearly impossible to uncover all of the learnings throughout this decade but what I will say is this, 2019 was the year that:
I started to respect myself more.
I set boundaries and learned how to hold space for loved ones from afar, even when it broke my heart.
I said “no” when it came to doing things that I knew wouldn’t serve me, and “yes” to everything that terrified me (even when I felt under-qualified).
I began to appreciate every single moment, the good, the bad, and the ugly.
I never took "no" for an answer when it came to my healthcare needs (even when I was doubted by the people around me- medical professionals included).
I learned that some people are in your life for a reason, season, or a lifetime.
I discovered that I am my own home.
I loved harder than I’ve ever loved before.
I re-learned how to trust my intuition.
I told myself that everything will be okay, no matter what, and believed it.
Conclusion
Just like any other year, 2019 was filled with unbelievable highs and unimaginable lows. To say I’m looking forward to this new decade is an understatement, but not for the reasons you may assume. Continuing down this path of self-love, self-care, and self-work is far from easy, but damn, this shift feels invigorating. So tell me! What were some of the things that 2019 taught you? And what is something that you are looking forward to in 2020? Let me know in the comments below, I’d love to hear.
