Gifted by Heritage Store. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Body scrubs are one of those skincare staples that are insanely easy to make. And better yet, you most likely have all the ingredients in your home. With all this time on my hands I’ve been giving myself some extra love. I didn’t realize how dry and neglected my hands, arms, and legs were until I started to incessantly wash my hands. Anyone else notice the same? As we continue to settle into an unfamiliar time, self-care has been more important than ever. I wanted to create a body scrub that would not only exfoliate but leave your skin silky smooth for days after. I incorporated coconut oil, cane sugar, essential oils, and Heritage Store’shexane-free castor oil, and theirrosewater & glycerin mist.

Key Ingredient Breakdown

Coconut Oil: contains lauric acid, which has restructuring properties that protect the skin while making it smooth.

Hexane Free Castor Oil: rich in ricinoleic acid, natural moisturizer that helps retain moisture in the outer layer of your skin. It has also been show in studies to be wound healing and contains anti-inflammatory properties due to it’s high content of ricinoleic acid.

Rosewater & Glycerin: provides a rich boost of hydration that nourishes your skin and hair.

Rosewater is one of my staples that I’ve used in my skincare regime for decades. This particular rosewater has glycerin which acts as a humectant to further lock in moisture, which is something I think we can all benefit from right now.

Cane Sugar: natural yet gentle exfoliator

Dried Rose Petals and Essential Oils: added for therapeutic properties. Try adding a couple drops of lavender to this scrub

Ingredients

1/4 cup organic cane sugar

1 tbsp unrefined coconut oil, melted

1/4 tsp Heritage Store Castor Oil

1/2 tsp Heritage Store Rosewater

Dried rose petals

2-4 drops of essential oil of choice

Method

In a medium mixing bowl combine the sugar, coconut oil, castor oil, and rosewater. Mix until the scrub is at a consistency you like. Depending, you can add more castor oil if you’d like.
