Nothing quite says “snack” as popcorn does. An ode to most of our childhoods, in which we feverishly grabbed fistfuls of while laughing with friends and family. While there is nothing inherently wrong with this classic snack food, commercially made popcorn (think movie theater or microwave) is filled with unwanted oils and ingredients that don’t support our health. So what’s different about this classic recipe? Below you’ll find my ingredient highlights and the reasons why this version will be your new favorite nutrient-dense snack.

Key Ingredient Highlights

Organic Non-GMO Popcorn: Extremely fiber-rich, with an abundance of whole grains and free radical fighting polyphenols.

Aleppo Pepper: Provides vibrant, floral notes along with anti-inflammatory properties.

Ingredients

½ cup organic popcorn

1/4 cup olive oil

kosher salt

Aleppo pepper flakes

Method

In a large pot with a lid, add olive oil add a pinches of kosher salt to the bottom of the pot over medium heat.

Immediately add popcorn kernels and combine well. Cover the pot immediately after.

Wait until the kernels start popping and gently shake the pot making sure everything is well coated. Once the popping slows down, remove from heat.

When the popcorn stops popping, remove the lid and add more koshersalt, 1-2 tsp of herbs and aleppo pepper flakes. Combine thoroughly and pour into a serving bowl.
