Though clean beauty has become predominantly mainstream, it’s still a tough concept for a lot of us to grasp. Sure, we all like the idea of using nontoxic products (from beauty to household), but there’s still a large amount of us who aren’t willing to spend the time or money figuring out which products would work just as well as the less-than-clean products we grew up using.
The products we use should improve the quality of our lives, not further damage it (hello lack of beauty law regulations). With nearly 80,000 chemicals on the market in the United States, it has become more than apparent that we have to start focusing and doing our own research about the products, brands, and companies that we can trust. Transparency hasn't been at the forefront of this industry until now (due to consumer awareness), and because of that, it's critical to really get to know the brands you use and how they source their materials and products. You'd be amazed by the things this industry has kept at bay for so long, which is exactly why I’m so passionate about sustainable beauty.
Focus Two
As a clean beauty enthusiast I was incredibly grateful to speak with their Seattle staff about products and hear what their values are. Follain kindly gifted me some products, which I’ve been testing out for a couple of weeks. I wanted to wait a little while before I said anything so I could give you my HONEST review. So as my products are almost out, let’s take a dive deep and get into it.

Naturopathica Aloe Cleansing Gel
I’ve been dying to get my hands on some Naturopathica products for awhile now. I’ve heard so many good things but had some commitment issues regarding buying fully sized new products (does this happen to you?). Lately I’ve been oil cleansing and was really looking for a gentle cleanser that wasn’t primarily oil based. I really enjoy this cleanser, it’s gentle yet effective. It didn’t leave my face feeling stripped, but I found myself needing some moisturizer in a couple areas afterwards (which is normal). I would definitely buy this product and keep in my rotation. The key ingredients in this gel are aloe vera extract, coconut oil, and lavender water.
Ursa Major Golden Hour Recovery Cream
I AM OBSESSED. This moisturizer is nothing short of amazing. It’s key ingredients are meadowfoam seed oil, neroli oil, and calendula flower extract. It’s really soothing and hydrating without being too thick or heavy. 10/10 would recommend, my skin has never felt softer.
Ursa Major Mask 3 Minute Flash Mask
I love myself a good mask! This mask is super easy and doesn’t take a lot of time- three minutes to be exact. The star ingredients are pomegranate extract, hibiscus extract, and alfalfa. This mask helped brighten, soothe, and tone my skin. Plus the alfalfa acts like a retinol which helps to stimulate collagen production, making your skin a lot more firm. The acids in the hibiscus also help to get rid of dead skin, while giving it an antioxidant boost. Pro tip- put this mask in the fridge, it’s so soothing at the end of a long day.
Kari Gran Three Sixty Five SPF 28
I was completely unfamiliar with this product but quickly came to love it. It’s oil based, but DOESN’T feel oily upon application. The main ingredients in this SPF are plum seed oil, avocado oil, jojoba seed oil. This is seriously the type of facial sunscreen I was missing in my life. It’s very silky and lightweight (thanks plum oil)! The avocado and jojoba oil make this product highly hydrating too. There’s definitely no sunscreen smell, or weird sunscreen residue. I like to think of this product as a lightweight yet highly effective moisturizer that also protects against UVA and UVB rays.
Love Sun Body Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30
Mineral based sunscreens for the win! It’s really tricky finding natural sunscreens and deodorants that actually work. Nobody including myself wants to worry about reapplying multiple times throughout the day. Sunscreen is a given but deodorant not so much. Okay I digress, the key ingredients in this sunscreen is zinc oxide, sweet almond oil, and coconut oil. I love that Love Sun Body used extremely hydrating oils with this sunscreen. It’s white and a little thicker but once it’s completely rubbed in, it feels just like a normal sunscreen, but without all the nasty toxins in it. It leaves a slight residue on the skin at the first (more of a wet feeling), then dries and feels completely normal 30-40 minutes. Definitely will continue to use.
